25.03.2022: Roundtable #New Beginning - Repatriation and Return

After weeks of constant support to refugees fleeing from Ukraine, we are glad to finally host our regular roundtables again.

The topic of flight and migration has meanwhile become very present in our daily life and activities. Not only for refugees, but also for several others with migration biography, does the question of country of origin play an important role in the future plannings. Regardless of the reason for emigration and the duration of residence abroad, migrants remain longterm connected to their home countries. While some migrants associate the thoughts of returning to their home countries with a great deal of insecurity and a sense of failure, other migrants are constantly in search of opportunities of return and new beginning in their home countries.

The topic of repatriation and return also plays a central role for government institutions and politics in regards to flight and migration, development cooperation and stability in domestic and foreign policies.

At this roundtable, IOM UN Migration and GIZ Germany will be presenting their programs for returning refugees, skilled workers, students and other professionals. We´ll also share the experience of our speakers who managed to successfully relocate to their home countries and have maintained connection to their German allies.
