Digitization in the era of COVID 19

Know-how transfer through digitization

When Corona broke out, much of the African population was caught in the dark due to lack of information. Conspiracy theories and fake news quickly spread through unconfirmed sources in the Internet and social media. Those living in the rural areas, who actually have little to no access to digital media, were even worsely affected by the uncertainty.

We (GAaNF) too quickly panicked because we had to cancel the planned trips of our experts from Germany to Kenya, moreso because it was at this respective time, that the need for information exchange was even more urgent than ever.
However, thanks to digitization, we still managed to accompany our partners on site through the entire Corona phase.
With the strong support of Dr. med. Andreas Wehrfritz, Fabiola L de Schütz and ASB Regional Association of Franconian Switzerland, we could regurlarly hold online seminars with our partners in Kenya, and in this way enable know-how transfer on the most important findings about the pandemic.
With our digitally coached teams, we have so far reached over 2,000 people within the project region with our measures - raising awareness on the prevention of Corona, distribution of information materials, distribution of masks, disinfectants and water dispensers etc...
Much we have done, and have achieved several positive results. Nevertheless, the fight against Corona is not yet won! Then with upliftment of the lockdowns, we continue to face several challenges in curbing the spread of the virus, and we also have to fight the consequences of the pandemic ...

You want to know more about our work, maybe know how you can continue with your projects in Africa despite Corona, or even participate actively in our program? Then contact us. We`ll be more than excited to have an exchange with you.
