Launch of the WE-Fair Fachkräfteallianz at BMZ

GAaNF was pleased to attend the official launch of the WE-Fair Fachkräfteallianz at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Berlin. The launch brought together around 120 participants from business, chambers, associations, trade unions, diaspora organisations and development cooperation.

The newly established alliance aims to strengthen fair, transparent and sustainable approaches to international skilled labour recruitment. Discussions during the launch focused on how labour mobility can be shaped in a way that responds to Germany’s need for skilled professionals, while also protecting the rights, interests and long-term perspectives of the professionals themselves and their countries of origin.

For Giving Africa a New Face (GAaNF) e.V., participation in this exchange was especially meaningful. As an organisation working at the intersection of diaspora engagement, migration, labour mobility and community-based support, GAaNF welcomed the opportunity to contribute to conversations on rights-based, partnership-oriented and sustainable pathways for skilled migration.

The launch created an important space for dialogue, shared learning and practical cooperation. It also underlined the importance of involving diverse actors, including diaspora organisations, in shaping labour mobility systems that are fair, inclusive and beneficial for all sides.

GAaNF looks forward to the next steps within the WE-Fair Fachkräfteallianz and to continued exchange with partners committed to fair and sustainable international skilled migration.
